Splash Into summer Party

Summetime is so special to me because I get to be a stay at home mom for a few weeks. Lily Grace and I wanted to start the summer off in style! We invited a few friends over for a splash party.

Swim Lessons

This summer Lily Grace took swim lessons. She has done remarkably well! This was a child afraid to get splashed in the face! She would run to get her towel to wipe her face anytime it got wet. Now, she is going under and swimming to me. Wow! What at difference a year makes!

Dance Class

Lily Grace started taking tap and ballet class this spring.  She loves it and is doing great! She performed at Mayfest. We were so proud. I always worry about her being a good listener because she is so active. She has proven me wrong! She keeps her eyes on the teacher and follows instructions. She asks how to do things when she doesn't understand. She has given me hope that she may not be the one rolling around on the carpet in kindergarten!  Here are a few pictures of her:

Snow Days 2011

Well, we had our first snow day on Tuesday. Then we had Wednesday, Thursday and Friday! This has been the coldest weather in a decade! I can't believe that Fort Worth ISD closed for four days in a row. I am glad that they are putting our safety first. Those of you that know me know I was prepared on Monday for this. I had my sub plans ready. I don't do ice! Driving in this kind of weather is one of my biggest fears. Having a wreck in icy weather while I was pregnant with Lily Grace did not help ease this fear! We have been relaxing at home. I haven't had cabin fever yet. Wednesday we spent the day at my parent's house. While the rest of Texas was having rolling blackouts, my street had a complete blackout for about 12 hours. When it first came back on, it stayed on for 15 min., then went off again for 15 min. and came back on. Then if went off again during the night. It came back on at 6:00 in the morning. Lily Grace and I watched a little too much t.v. today. I took Lily Grace outside for about 15 minutes on Tuesday afternoon. That was all we could take! She really wanted to make a snow angel. She has been talking about making snow angels since Thanksgiving. She remembers the snow last Christmas and thinks that we have snow on Christmas. She got a little spoiled. Needless to say, the snow had turned into ice and we were not able to make snow angles or a snowman! I did however, get some cute pictures out of the ordeal! I got a great new facebook profile picture!

Lily Grace and I went to the church to help put the Thanksgiving baskets together. I want Lily Grace to begin to understand the importance of helping others. She was one of the youngest there but, I think she understood that we were doing something to help others. I plan on making this a family tradition.

Six Flags

My dad's hospital had their family day at Six Flags this past Saturday. It was the perfect opportunity to see how Lily Grace would handle Six Flags without having to pay and arm and a leg to get in. Well....she liked it! She wasn't crazy about the Mini Mine Train or the Cave Ride. She said it hurt her tummy and the cave was to dark and scary. She really liked the swings and the merry go round. It looks like we will have to come back!

Halloween

Trick or Treating with Landry

My Little Strawberry Shortcake!
Our Minnie Mouse Jack o Lantern .
Pumpkin Patch in Hillsboro

Lily Grace was Strawberry Shortcake this year. We decided to fore go the Boo Bash this year and try Trick or Treating. We went to our friends Mike and Krista's neighborhood. Krista and I stayed at the house to give out candy while the guys took Lily Grace and Landry trick or treating. When the girls came back, we all sat in the front yard giving out candy. The girls had more fun handing out the candy than receiving it! I was amazed of how many older teenagers still go trick or treating. I was wondering what they were thinking when 2 three year olds gave candy to them. (I personally think it should be the other way around but, who am I to judge?)
